Shaw is the largest settlement in Shaw and Crompton, a parish in the Borough of Oldham that sits between Royton and the Pennine moors, about two miles north of Oldham. We collect across Shaw and the Crompton side of the parish, from High Crompton and Buckstones to Rushcroft and Cowlishaw, and just over the boundary in Newhey. In the cotton boom of 1919 and 1920 the town was nicknamed the “Golden City” and was said to have more millionaires per head than any other town in the world.
Your driver will take the A663 south-west past Royton and down Broadway to the M60 at Chadderton, then stay on the M60 through Denton and Stockport and join the M56, leaving it at junction 5 for the terminals.
Typical journey time: around 40 to 55 minutes, depending on traffic and the time of day.
