Manchester to Heathrow is one of the most requested long-distance transfers in the North West.
Heathrow is the UK’s principal hub for long-haul international departures. For passengers across Greater Manchester, it is often the only gateway to North America, the Far East, the Middle East, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Rather than connecting through Manchester Airport on a short domestic hop, or breaking the journey with trains and the Underground, many passengers prefer a single pre-booked vehicle that collects them from home and delivers them directly to the correct terminal — luggage and all.
From your pickup point in Greater Manchester, your driver takes the most efficient route based on live traffic at the time of travel. The standard route clears Manchester via the M60 ring road before heading south on the M56 through Cheshire. From there, the journey continues onto the M6 past Knutsford, Stoke-on-Trent, and the Birmingham corridor, picking up the M40 south of Coventry before joining the M25 to approach Heathrow from the west.
The two sections that need watching are the M6 between Junctions 10 and 13 — the stretch north of Birmingham that regularly backs up during morning and evening peaks — and the M25 between Junctions 10 and 16, where the Heathrow spur roads feed in. Your driver uses live navigation throughout and will route via the M6 Toll when conditions make it worthwhile. Toll charges are included in your fare — there is no additional cost to you.
For flights before 11:00, we recommend factoring in a 4 hours 30 minutes journey time from city-centre Manchester and a further 15–30 minutes from outer Greater Manchester locations. You should always add your airline’s recommended check-in window to the travel time — typically 3 hours for long-haul flights.
On request at the time of booking, your driver can stop at motorway services for 10–15 minutes at no extra charge. This is especially appreciated on a 3.5–4 hour drive, particularly for families travelling with young children.
One of the most common causes of travel stress on this route is arriving at the wrong terminal. Heathrow has four active passenger terminals, each serving distinct airline groups. Your Airport Trips driver will drop you at the correct terminal for your airline — and if you are unsure which one that is, tell us your airline when booking, and we will confirm it.
Home of Star Alliance airlines. If you are flying with Lufthansa, United Airlines, Air Canada, Singapore Airlines, Swiss, TAP Air Portugal, or ANA (All Nippon Airways), your terminal is T2. ITA Airways also joined T2 in spring 2026. T2 is centrally located and shares a road access point with T3.
Home of Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, American Airlines, Delta, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, and Qantas. Some British Airways seasonal services and certain oneworld partners also operate from T3. If you are flying Virgin Atlantic to New York, Los Angeles, or Johannesburg, this is your terminal.
Used by Air France, KLM, Malaysia Airlines, and Gulf Air, among others. T4 sits on the southern perimeter of the airport and is accessed via a separate road spur — it takes longer to reach from the M25 than T2, T3, or T5.
T5 is used exclusively by British Airways and Iberia. If you are flying British Airways on any route — short-haul or long-haul — your terminal is almost certainly T5. T5 is the westernmost terminal and is accessed directly from Junction 14 of the M25.
Not sure? That’s exactly what we’re here for. Tell us your airline and flight number when booking, and we will confirm your terminal as part of your booking confirmation.
All fares are fixed at the time of booking and inclusive of all motorway tolls and the M6 Toll where applicable.

Your fare is calculated and confirmed before you book. It does not change on the day, not if there is traffic, not if your route is adjusted, not if the motorway toll goes up. What you are quoted is what you pay, full stop. No surge pricing, no airport drop-off surcharges, no fuel levies added afterwards.
On the outbound journey from Manchester to Heathrow, your driver monitors live traffic data along the full 200-mile route from the moment they set off. If there are delays on the M6 or M25, your driver adjusts speed and routing accordingly. On return journeys from Heathrow, we monitor your inbound flight in real time and adjust pickup time if your arrival is delayed — at no extra cost to you.
Many transfer companies drop passengers at a general Heathrow area or central bus station and ask them to make their own way to their terminal. We do not do that. Your driver takes you directly to the departures entrance of your specific terminal — T2, T3, T4, or T5 — and stays until you and your luggage are safely on your way.
Every Airport Trips driver is DBS checked, holds a current private hire licence, and has specific experience on the Manchester to Heathrow corridor. You receive your driver’s name, vehicle registration, and contact number before your pickup — so you always know who to expect.
Long-haul flights to North America often depart Heathrow at 09:00–11:00, which means a Manchester departure of 04:30–06:00. We are available at those hours, every day, including weekends and bank holidays. A 2 AM pickup is handled with the same standard as a midday one.
We collect from any address across Greater Manchester as part of a standard booking — no additional pickup surcharge applies within our standard service area.
